He had a brother Christian, who was 13 years older and they shared the same name and birthday of August 6. Chris had 2 years of formal schooling between the ages of 7 and 9 years of age. He herded sheep at 8 years of age. His family came to Utah at different times and not together. He married Mary Ann Israelsen on December 25, 1878 and they had 12 children. After Mary Ann's death he later married Otilia Johanson. Everyone liked to visit with Chris. He liked to fish. He was known in Hyrum to be like a veterinarian, and he helped to dr. many animals.
