Retired Radio Technician To Be Buried Today
Services for Richard B. Stoddard of 4309 Benjestown Road, who died yesterday, will be held at 2 this afternoon at National Funeral Home with Rev. Herbert M. Scoby officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery on Benjestown Road.
Mr. Stoddard, a retired radio technician, died at 9:50 a.m. after a series of heart attaches the past few weeks. He was 76.
Mr. Stoddard, who is thought to have built the first radio in Memphis, had been working in recent years as a bookkeeper for Vandiveer Cotton Gin. Born in Virginia, he had lived here most of his life.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Signe Marie Stoddard; a son, Richard Stoddard: a daughter, Mrs. J. C. Vandiveer, all of Memphis, and six grandchildren.
