Philip N Schuyler - Huron Reflector - March 2, 1847
A meeting of the citizens of Norwalk was held at the Court House on Friday evening, February 26th, for the purpose of concerting measures for relief of the suffers by famine in Ireland and Scotland.
Platt Benedict was appointed Chairman and P.N. Schuyler, Secretary.
On motion, Judge T. Baker was chosen Treasurer.
The following gentlemen were appointed a committee for Norwalk township to solicit and receive donations, viz: Theodore Baker, Obadiah Jenney, Platt Benedict, and Bruno Silva.
C.A. Preston and J.M. Farr were also authorized to receive contributions at their offices, either in money or provisions.
On motion each person present at the meeting was constituted a committee to collect donations and bring in the same on Wednesday evening the 10th of March next.
It was resolved that a county meeting be held at the Court House in Norwalk, on Wednesday evening the 10th of March next.
Resolved, That a copy of the proceedings of this meeting be furnished by the secretary to each of the papers of this village for publication.
On motion the meeting adjourned.
