Peter Shirts Home
This picture was probably taken in 1921. It was mailed from Bryce Canyon, Utah Sept. 2. 1921 in the form of a postcard to Mr. Henry Excell at Panguitch. The sender is assumed to have been Mr. Ruby Syrett who established Ruby's Inn near Bryce and is probably one of the men in the picture. In the winter of 1865-66 Peter Shirts and his family lived here. The house is situated near a rocky ledge which one side of the house. Peter had excavated under it to form a room in which he stored grain and produce and in which it was reported he found water. The house is located about 5 miles upstream from the old Paria townsite, and in a left hand canyon called Kitchen Canyon.
