Alma Fern Royse, 82, of 1460 Dalles Military Road dd June 22, 2001, at the Park Manor Rehabilitation Center. Visitation is scheduled from noon-6pm Mon & 8:30-10am Tues at Colonial-DeWitt Fun Home, 19 E Birch St. Her life will be celebrated at 10am at fun home. Rev Tom Peterson will officiate. Interment will follow at Mtn View Cem. Memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Soc or Amer Cancer Soc.
Mrs Royse bn 18 Aug 1918 in Calgary, Alberta, to A Cleve & Alberta Bingamen Hathaway. She moved to WW, where her father started a printing shop. She grad from WW High School in late 1930s.
She md Merle Royse on May 16, 1937, in Walla Walla.
Mrs Royse was a legal secretary, then assisted her husband at his Royse Auto Repair. After the business closed, Mrs Royse worked for the US Postal Service, retiring as postmaster secretary in 1978.
She was member of Grace United Methodist Church & for sev years its volunteer bookkeeper. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and stitchery and spending time with her husband at their cabin on Mill Creek. She loved to travel and visited a son in Australia & bro in Hawaii.
Mrs Royse is survived by son Harold M Royse & wife Dianna, both of Walla Walla; Carol E Linke of Spokane; a bro Glen Hathaway of Lake Oswego OR; five grandchildren & four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son John Royse, bro Erle Hathaway & sis Hazel Rommel & Ethel Freeburn.
