- 1854 BIRTH: GY,Bavaria-Castlemendelheim: Wilhelm M Zuendt was born 1854, the son of Ernst Anton and Johanna Zuendt.
c1860 IMMIGRATION:History of Jefferson City and Cole Co by James E Ford, pg 587: The founder of the Zuendt family in America was Baron Ernst Anton Zuendt, born in Bavaria [no date shown], who came with his family to America about 1860. He was a journalist, and worked on newspapers in Milwaukee, St Paul and St Louis, being chosen poet laureate of the Turnverein in the latter city. He came to Jefferson City as a teacher of the German language in the public schools. A number of organizations, in recognition of his work, erected a monument in his memory in this city.
William M. Zuendt, oldest of his four children, was four years old when Ernst Anton Zuendt came to America. As a young man he became associated with his father-in-law, Christ Wagner in the the wholesale grocery business in this city. He had married Antonia Wagner, daughter of Christ Wagner, in 1879...
William M Zuendt began as a clerk of the firm of Wagner and Scovern, later acquiring Mr. Scovern's interest in the business. He was fatally injured in the railroad wreck on the newly built St. Louis, Jefferson City and Kansas Railway on December 18, 1881 and died December 19, 1881...

1881 DEATH,BURIAL: Train crash outside of Russelville 18 December 1881, critically burned, died 19 December; buried Riverview Cemetery.

"The St. Louis, Jefferson City and Kansas Railway was graded as far as Russellville in July, 1881, and on August 17 a bridge was completed across the Moreau and construction train running.
December 18th of that year, a wreck on this newly built railroad killed Christopher Wagner, Green C. Berry and Oscar Monnig outright and fatally injured Chris Gemeinhardt and Willie Zuendt. All were prominent in the business life of the city and county."

Paul LePage 3/1991 says William was buried in Woodlawn until wife died, then stone left but he buried in Riverview next to Antonia, buried next to Henry LePage.
