Sylvanus Hopkins (Judah, Stephen, Giles, Stephen) was born in Harwich 14 Feb. 1716/17. He married in Harwich, 30 Nov. 1738, Ruth Berry, the daughter of Judah Berry. Both were admitted to the church 5 Aug. 1739. They resided in Harwich and Brewster, and probably in Mansfield, Conn. He and his wife mortgaged land in Putnam County, N.Y., 24 Jan. 1763. Marriage intention of a Sylvanus Hopkins of Kent, Conn., is found in the Malden Vital Records.
