PORTLAND - Former Walla Walla resident Russell G Royse, 85, died at Sunny Vista care facility 6 Jan 2002. The memorial service will be 11 am Jan 19 at Holman's Fun Chapel, 2610 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland. Private burial will be in Lone Fir Cem. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Assn. One of four sons, Mr Royse was bn 6 April 1916 in Pilot Rock to Porter "Bud" and Iva Wegner Royse. He came to Walla Walla at 9 and graduated from Walla Walla High School. He worked for Puritan Creamery here, then moved away when he was 25. He married Gwendola Wonser in 1935 in Walla Walla; they divorced in 1952. In 1955 he married Dorothy Kleppenger in Portland. He had been the owner of a plumbing and electrical supply business in Portland. He also worked for Grinnell Co in Pasco, Pocatello ID, and in Portland, where he settled in 1952. Survivors include his wife, at the Crestview care facility in Portland; a son, Jerry Royse of Milton-Freewater; 2 daughters, Dorreen Carey of Gary, Indiana and Cheryl Royse of Portland; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
