1978 HISTORY: Sep letter from Ron to Dave and June Hallmark, Anchorage AK: "...spent couple of days in Seattle trying to get reacquainted with Bob on his return from Germany... wound up helping Bob and Samm sheetrock a room instead. Bob and Jan are doing well... in a place of their own now. I went on to SF... spent weekend in San Jose with Steve and Penny... to Stockton to negotiate on a large claim with Holt Bros. there... onto Baltimore for a Labor Negotiation Seminar... returned home after a month absence so tired that I couldn't think straight.
...shocked when I got a postcard from Norma... she and Dad were "flying" to Utah. It seems Dad is doing well and has little sugar in his system... hope he doesn't hurry back to Walla Walla...havent't heard from Jack... Suppose the family still in Klamath trying to sell.

1999 HISTORY: VA-Virginia Beach: Dec 22 letter from Ron to Dave Hallmark: "I still miss Utah but when Jean's health started to fade from the altitude there, our son, Robert, the doctor and his wife, Sue, asked us to come out to visit, and we both like it so much that Jean stayed and I returned to pack up and move all our things out here.... don't see any more of him and his wife [both doctors]. However, Rob keeps in touch by phone and is always checking on "Mom" to make sure she is okay. Jean is doing much better now at sea-level but, still on occasion has chest pains and can't do as much as she used to... sold our townhome in Provo and now own a 10-yr old home w/3 bedrooms... take walks often but not on windy or rainy says, so must accept the treadmill. I am often reminded of walks that Dad used to take; I miss him very much and am very grateful that he is with our Mother now.

2000 HISTORY: VA-Virginia Beach: Letter March 2000 to Dave from Ron Hallmark: In Singapore with daughter, still living in Virginia Beach; Went to country of Brunci, NW part of island of Bornco on Ron's 70th birthday... Rob had us come out there to be close to him as Jean has had a lot of problems w/her heart. On top of her history of diabetis she has had congestive heart failure now for several years. Rob wanted her close so he could assure she would have specialists when needed... the 3 level townhouse in Utah was just too many stairs to climb. Our home in Virginia is all on 1 floor...
Dec 2000 letter: "I was able to fly to Utah - time with 2 brothers and sister (Jack in Salt Lake, Norma-Cedar Hills, Dave in Boise). Sammantha drove me up to Walla Walla to attend grade school reunion (1944). While in Walla Walla I was able to stop in Pendleton OR to visit with cousins Keith Hallmark, Donna Lee House and Lorna Dee Stahl.

2003 HIST: CA,Santa Clara-San Jose: Living with daughter, Penny Cherry - has been to Singapore with dau, Tracy. Has dimencia - gets lost easily, but remembers years past well, personality the same, although he has mellowed and doesn't have his temper flare as in past.

2007 HISTORY: Phillipines: Pam Hallmark Wagner visted with Ron's daughter Penny, and she said he is living in the Phillipines with a caregiver, who was sister Tracy's housekeeper. Phillipines is her home and has family to help her with him. She has nice home [condominium] for Phillipines, but takes good care of Ron

Ronald Grow Hallmark, 83, formerly of Walla Walla, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 9, 2013, in the city of his residence, Cebu City, Phillippines. His wife, Gloria de Gracia Hallmark, was at his side. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 55 years, W Jean Palmer Hallmark; and his beloved daughter, Penny Lynn Cherry of San Jose, Calif.
Ron is survived by 5 children, Sammantha Hallmark Seals of Tooele UT, Bruce Hallmark of Wenatchee, Dr Robert J Hallmark of San Antonio, Texas, Theresa A Felt of Park City UT and Alan L Hallmark of Robbinsville NJ. He was a proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Ron was born in Walla Walla on March 25, 1930, the youngest son of Ivy "Bud" and Luella Hallmark. Ron attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Walla Walla High School in June 1948.
Ron worked for the Post Office for many years before taking a position with the US Army Corps of Engineers. He retired from government service in 1985, and he and his wife Jean traveled extensively until her death in 2003. Ron will be lovingly remembered for his many accomplishments. He got his pilot license when he was 16, was a member of the National Guard, a member of Civil Air Patrol, and served as a Boy Scout leader for many years as a Scoutmaster. He loved children; he and his wife were foster parents and adopted a beautiful young girl. Ron was a well respected member of the community and volunteered for many charities over the years. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He helped to build houses and helped construct a beautiful church on South Second Avenue in Walla Walla. Although Ron lived in many places around the world, he always thought of Walla Walla as his home.
A memorial service to honor Ronald G Hallmark is being planned by the family and will be announced this summer. He will be interred at the Mountain View Cemetery, beside his "bride," Jean.
