This son Pieter Jans Haughwout was probably the emigrant ancestor of the Leffert-Haughwout families in the United States
Source (1) Pieter purchased a house in Flatbush in 1661 and died before 15 Oct 1662 . From an application made by Femmetje Hermans to have guardians appointed for the two youngest children on 15 Oct 1662, we learn their names & their ages. Leffert is age 11 yrs. & Pieter Pierterse is 2 & a half yrs. Apparently the father Pieter Jans & his two older children have died in the 2 & a half yrs. between 15 Apr 1660 & 15 Oct 1662. Pieter Jans purchased a house & a lot in the town of Flatbush (which is now within New York city limits),in 1661, as per p. 47 of Liber B of Flatbush records. He was a shoemaker & farmer by trade.
