Notes - Mabel C. Stonehocker was born Aug 1890 in Colfax, Jasper Co., IA. She married a Leo Hugo Thiessen (born Nov. 1, 1890 in Keystone, Benton Co., IA). They married about 1915. Winnefred Thiessen was the only child born of this marriage. Winnie was born about 1917 in Keystone, Benton, IA. Leo Hugo Thiessen died between 1917 and 1922, perhaps in World War I. Widow Mabel C. Stonehocker-Thiessen married the older brother of Leo Hugo Thiessen. HUGO Thiessen was born Jan 10, 1882, in Keystone, Benton, IA. They married about 1922. He died Sept 1964 in IA. The only child of this marriage was Helen L. Thiessen born about 1924 in Keystone, Benton, IA.
Until I checked the 1925 Iowa State Census and saw that child Winnefred and child Helen L. Thiessen did not have the same fathers, I had thought that Mabel C. Stonehocker's husband Leo Hugo Thiessen and Hugo Thiessen, listed in various US Census, were one in the same. Wrong! After checking on the Thiessen family in US Census, I realized that Leo Hugo was a younger brother to Hugo. Various US Census gave me much info on the two young men as well as World War I draft cards information. I found this little tidbit worth passing along for the greater Stonehocker Family Tree as it might make a difference to someone far in the future.
