Photos | Magazine Article about Bull's Villa, Farmsen Farmsen-Berne, Hamburg, Germany Rundschau For People With a Perspective News and Reports from Farmsen-Berne & Surroundings July/August 2011 What will become of Bull's Villa? The Art Nouveau house on Kupferdamm.26 served the descendants of the last Farmsener Vogt [Overseer], Johann-Robert Bull as a residential building and shortly after his death, the "Kupfermuhle" restaurant was located here. The splendor of the old town has given way to walls that have long been protected by monuments since May 2008 the building opposite the idyllic copper pond has been empty. An indication from the population that the property has come under the hammer. The majority of the Farmsen-Berner Burgers welcomed an early renovation of the building - after all, the house, built in 1900, is part of the district's history and it also has many to tell. The villa-like building, which originally had the function of a mill building, served the landlord Johann-Robert Bull and his family as a residence until 1921. Johann Robert Bull was the eldest son of Johann-Christopher Bull, owner of the Farmsen Gutshof [estate] and also Farmsener Vogt [Overseer]. He completely redesigned the house and property according to his taste and replaced, among other things the water mill wheel through a turbine, which from then on was responsible for generating electricity. He had the mill pond on the north side of the copper dam dredged and enlarged. Bull then redesigned the entire area around today's copper pond into a park, which since then has offered the Farmsen residents a good opportunity for relaxing walks. A short time after Johann Robert Bull's death, the restaurant "Kupfermuhle" opened in the house that now belonged to the city of Hamburg. Owner August Simonsen offered his guests, among other things, a shady garden with a large open-air dance hall, goat rides for children and a 35,000 m2 pond for rowing. The time of the Nazi regime later fell over the Bull's villa like a dark shadow and brought it into disrepute as the "Brown House". The name of the honorable and deserving Farmsen man Johann Robert Bull and his ancestors have been immortalized in the street name Bullskamp since 1923. Johann Robert Bull died on 11 Jul 1921. 26 Kupferdamm in the address given on his death certificate source: https://www.yumpu.com/de/document/read/4052406/farmsen-berne-rundschau-fur-leute-mit-durchblick |
