  Helen Kern "Our Beloved Mother" Helen Jean Unsworth Kern, 89, passed away December 14, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah.Born March 12, 1919 in Hyrum, Utah, daughter of Joseph and Josephine Crookston Unsworth. Married Charles Jacob Kern September 28, 1938 in the Logan Temple. Helen grew up in Malad, Idaho and on the family farm in Pocatello Valley. Graduated from Malad High School in 1936. She was employed by Mountain Bell/US West Telephone Company where she started out as a telephone operator and retired after 40 years of service as an Administrative Secretary. Helen was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She moved to Bountiful, Utah in December of 1963 and for the last 30 years she resided in Sugarhouse. Survived by children: Lois Jean (Henry) Haraguchi, C. Joseph (Geri) Kern, Anita (David) Hills and David (Lynette) Kern; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; husband; brother, David; sisters: Edna, Grace and Myrle. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 18, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where friends may call, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Logan City Cemetery.
