The author has a letter written 26 May 1888 by George Brumbaugh (grandson of Conrad) at age 86 in which he says "Conrad and Johannes came from Germany about 1765 and settled within 3 miles of Johnstown PA where David and George were born. Conrad died within 3 miles of Johnstown when I was too young to remember." A grandson of Conrad, Samuel of Perry TWP, Montgomery Co Ohio says he and his two bros came to America and from these three sprang all the Brumbaughs of Pennsylvania.

After part of his children were born, he removed to Morrison's Cove but with Indian troubles he returned to the more thickly settled portions of the state. When he returned to Morrison's Cove he found the Indians in possession and they had destroyed everything he had left behind and killed all the remaining settlers. After Indian troubles were over he returned and lived here for some time, then removing to Allegheny Co PA and became one of the pioneers of that section of the state.
