Mrs. Dowen had resided with her daughter for the past three years, but previous to that she had been a resident of this village for thirty years. She has many friends in this village who will grieve to learn of her death. She leaves of her immediate family, one daughter, Mrs. Dye, and one sister, Mrs. Merit, of New York. The funeral was attended Tuesday at 11am in Troy, and the remains brought to this village for the interment." On same page: "DIED: At Troy, N.Y., October 31, 1897, Mrs. Clarissa B. Dowen, aged 70 years. Interment was in the Ballston Village cemetery."
