Documents | Baptism record for Margreta Jakobsen - Register of Baptisms Quern (14/1794) Born July 1st, 1794 Baptized July 4th, 1794 Margreta Jakobsen, legitimate daughter of the farmer Peter Nicolay Jakobsen in Gross Quern and his wife Anna Marie née – Jochimsen or Detlefs – in Kahleby. Godparents: Margreta Jochimsen from Kahleby, the spinster Anna Maria Juergensen from Steinberg, and Asmus Hansen from Sandbek [Between 2 to 18 miles away]. This record states Margreta's father was a "Hufner" which translates to farmer but a Hufner was a higher class of farmer. "Hufe" means the size of their land was quite large. Perhaps a better translation would be ranch or plantation. Hufners were usually well known and their lives were documented quite well. | |
