Funeral services for Bert Leavitt, age 87, of Central, will be conducted Saturday, March 9 2013, at 10:00 a.m., at the Central L.D.S. Chapel, 5291 West Highway 70 in Central, by Bishop Bryan McBride of the Central Second Ward. Concluding services with military honors conferred by the Gila Valley Veteran's Honor Guard will follow in the Central Cemetery. Bert entered into eternal life peacefully Sunday evening, March 3, 2013, at his residence. The family will receive friends Friday evening, March 8, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home, 1940 South 20th Avenue in Safford and Saturday morning, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m., at the Central L.D.S. Obituary for Bert Leavitt
Bert Randall Leavitt was born September 29, 1925 in Mesa, Arizona, the son of Joseph Collins and Blanche Allen. He moved to the Gila Valley after he met and married Gracie Booth, of Central, in August of 1981. For several years Bert was employed at Eastern Arizona College where he worked as a groundskeeper.

As a young man, Bert served his country in the United Stated Coast Guard during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, Bert later served a mission in Western Canada from 1947 until 1949. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Central Second Ward.

Bert leaves to mourn: his wife of 32 years, Gracie; his son, Joseph; two daughters, Murial Fujimoto and Moneta Jensen; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Bert was predeceased by: his wife, Rosalie Kelly; his mother, Blanche; his father, Joseph; a sister, Barbara Lanier; and a son, Floyd.

Bert entered into eternal life peacefully Sunday evening, March 3, 2013, at his residence with family members at his side.

Rosalie (daughter of Raymond Jonathon Kelly and Nora Coplan) was born 26 May 1930, Mesa, Maricopa, Arizona, United States; died 25 Jan 1981, Mesa, Maricopa, Arizona, United States; was buried 27 Jan 1981, Mesa, Maricopa, Arizona, United States.
