The registers of the First Dutch Reformed Church on Staten Island, located at Port Richmond, begin in 1696; although there were religious services there prior to that date, the records of baptisms there do not exist prior to 1696. We have therefor a period of time extending from 1683, the year of the mg. of Pieter Pieterse Haughwout , until 1696---13 years---during which time we have no records of the bap. of any of his children; nor their deaths, nor marriages. Hence we find no record of the bap. of his children elsewhere, we cannot determine exactly the order of his childrens births but must approximate thereto by reasonable deduction. Pieter Pieterse Haughwout mentions in his will his two grandchildren daughters of his son Egbert, Rachel & Diritie. No mention of Egbert who had apparently died before 13 Feb 1715, the date of the will, found in" Haughwout Family notes" p 313.
