    Got the phone call today. Steve died this morning. He sung a solo in church, and sat back down next to his wife, my aunt Linda. When she leaned over to tell him he had done so nicely, he wasn't breathing. Heart attack. Not his first, but this one took him. My father, Linda's oldest brother, will fly up to Ohio from Georgia tomorrow to be with her. Most other siblings are in the state and will be close by. What a shock. He's mid-sixties is all. The Halleys are such a long-lived lot... this seems decades early to have such a hole in our ranks.
