    DAUGHTER
    Marilyn Louise (Schult) Welch was born on March 15, 1932 at Los Angeles, California to Walter Herman Schult and Renee Josephine Felt. Her parents divorced, and in July 1945, while her father served in the US Navy, he married her new stepmother Helen Louise Wickard (1920-2003). Marilyn's mother remarried in 1961 to Irving Galzen (1911-1980).

    In 1950, Marilyn married Dale Reavis Welch and enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Optimistic and constantly encouraging, Marilyn taught first and second grade at Torrance Elementary School for twenty-five years, where she also directed many musical productions. She combined her beautiful voice and love of music and travel touring with the Southern California Mormon Choir. She was active in the Torrance Teachers' Association, California Republican Women, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and loved serving in the youth and women's organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

    Marilyn passed away at her home on May 15, 2008. She was survived by her husband of 58 years, Dale Welch; one daughter, one son, three brothers, seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Fred Schult.

    Funeral services were held on May 23, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5845 Crestridge Rd., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Marilyn was laid to rest beside her mother at Green Hills Memorial Park.
    An obituary and photo were published in the Daily Breeze, Torrance, CA on May 20th & 21st, 2008.
