The three sons of Cors lived with their mother & her second husband Frederick Lubberts( Md. bet 17 Aug & Oct 13 1657) after their father died.
As no mention is found in the record, of the two dau's. Elsje & Greitje, it may be assumed they had died before the death of their father in 1655.
On 11 Mar 1666, an interesting wedding occured; Cornelis Corssen, the eldest son of Cors & Tryntie Hendricks, married Marritje Jacobs van der Grift, the eldest child of Jacob van der Grift & Rebecca Fredericks, the daughter of Frederick Lubbertsen & Styntje Jans. The son of Tryntje Hendricks married the granddaughter of her second husband. Thus it was that the descendants of Cornelis Corssen are descended maternally not only by marriage but by direct descent from Frederick Lubbertsen.

The baptismal records of Cornelia & Daniel were the only baptisms of the 6 children found in the records & one of these, Cornelia, had been in the Dutch Church of Brooklyn & the other, Daniel in, New York. As the family at this time lived on Staten Island, it was necessary in order to baptize these children to make in addition to several miles travel over land, about a six-mile journey over water. Because these two children were baptized in churches other than on Staten Island, and because the Dutch Church on Staten Island had been destroyed & their records lost, This assumption seems verified by Clute, P.256, in his Annals of Staten Island, by the following; " In 1714, Gov. Hunter executed a grant to the reformed Protestant Dutch Church, to build a new church on the North Shore. Probably on the site of the one, as was said above, existed thirty-four yrs. before."
Not withstanding the fact that baptismal records of only two of the six children of Capt. Cornelius Corssen & Marretje Vandergrift were found in the records, it has been possible by the record of deeds, by which Catherine, Christian, Cornelia And Benjamin conveyed their one-sixth interest in the estate of their deceased father to their brother, Jacob, and the record of a census of Staten Is., taken about 1706, to definitely fix the number and names of Capt. Cornelius Corssens surviving children & to determine the year of birth.
Cornelius Corsen & his family removed to Staten Is. about 1678. Here Capt. Cornelius raised his family, destined to become one of the most influential on the Island & one of the largest land owners in the County.

Cornelius married Marritje Jacobs Vandergrift 11 Mar 1666, New York City, New York, United States. Marritje (daughter of Jacob Leendertsen Vandergrift and Rebecca Frederickse) was christened 29 Aug 1649, New York City, New York, United States; died Bef Sep 1698, , Richmond, New York, United States. Vol. 94, p. 235, "On 28 Mar 1698, Pieter Coursen, the second husband of Catherine Van der Beek, conveyed for 250 ,a tract of 180 acres on Lubbertsen's Neck in Kings County, N.Y., to Cornelis Sebring (Kings Co. Deeds:2:164). This Cornelis was the husband of Aeltje, daughter of Frederick Lubbers &Tryntje, Pieters mother, as Frederick had married Pieter's widowed mother in 1657, the two men, Pieter & Cornelis, could be called brothers-in-law, as indeed they were so called in the following: "On Aug 19 1689, John Marsh of New Jersey, entered into an agreement with Pieter Corssen & his brother-in=law, Cornelis Sebring, for the erection of a water mill to be built upon the meadows of Corssen & Sebring" (Ibid:1:271). This crucial item is cited by Orville Corson in "Three Hundred Years with the Corson Families in America, 1929, v. 1, p. 52, & Somerset County Historical Quarterly, v. 3, p. 120.
In return for this deed Cornelis Sebring gave a bond, dated 20 Mar 1698, in which he promised to support Pieter Corssen as long as he should live. This document is good evidence, as the compiler of the Corson Families admits, that there was no surviving child of Pieter Corssen Vroom in 1698.

Pieter married Catherine Van Der Beek 19 Oct 1679, New York City, New York, United States. Catherine was christened 10 Sep 1645, New Amsterdam, New Netherlands; died Between 29 Apr 1694 and 28 Mar 1698. [Group Sheet]

Hendrick Corssen dropped the patronymic "Corssen" & used the additional designative "Vroom" as their family name & are so known today.. He hailed from the Wallabout and on the assessment rolls of Brooklyn of 1683 and 1693. Hendrick & his family moved from Brooklyn to the Raritan River district of New Jersey, in the vicinity of New Brunswick, the same community where some of the descendants of Jan Corszen & Metje Cray first ancestors of the Sussex Co., New Jersey, group resided. The latter used the name "Corssen" as a family name & this circumstance may have influenced Hendrick Corssens children to use the name "Vroom". Apparently his grandfather was Peter Coursen Vroom which may have been a good reason he went by Vroom.

Hendrick married Josina Pieterse Van Nest Bef 1677, New York City, New York, United States. Josina was born Abt 1657, New York City, New York, United States; died Yes, date unknown. [Group Sheet]

Online Wikipedia entry on Florida, Montgomery, New York, of which the "Village of Port Jackson" was a part at the time of James' birth:
"In 1880, the "Village of Port Jackson" in the town was annexed to form part of the City of Amsterdam. Port Jackson had been an important port on the Erie Canal and a ferry station connecting the south side of the Mohawk River to the City of Amsterdam."

Hence, in his journal James says he was born "in the village of Port Jackson, Florida, Amsterdam, Montgomery County, State of New York."
