1928 50th WED ANN: Post Tribune, Jeff City Monday, Oct 8, 1928 - 50th Wed Anniversary: "Mr and Mrs Conrad Wagner, 623 East High Street, pioneer residents of this section, are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary today. Members of the family have arrived here from various parts of the country, and a banquet this evening at the Missouri Hotel conclude the day's celebration.
Mr and Mrs Wagner, aged 79 and 70 years respectively, have lived in Jeff City a greater part of their married life and head one of the most prominent families of this section.
Seven children were born: Otto and George, twins, died when three months old. The others were Adolph, Edwin, Frieda, Emil and Paul. The first three are married. There is one grand daughter, Miss Ruth, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Adolph Wagner of Jefferson City. Mr and Mrs Edwin Wagner reside in St Louis, Mr and Mrs Wm Herfurth reside in Boise Idaho, as does Emil Wagner. Paul resides in Marshfield, Oregon.
Mr Wagner was born May 1, 1849, nine miles east of Jefferson City near Schuberts, where his father and grandfather settled in seven years before. The National Highway which was then just being completed, ran through this farm. Mr Wagner assisted his father in farming and in the brewery business which they had established on the farm. They resided there until 1870, when they left the farm to come to Jefferson City where they purchased the old Gundlefinger Brewery. The Brewery was then conducted under the name of the C and L Brewery Company until sold to the Moerschel brothers in 1892.
During the years in the brewery the Wagners installed the first ice plant in Central Missouri. They later entered business in Colorado Springs, and in 1902 engaged in the lumber business in Missouri and Arkansas.
Mr Wager was prominent in the progress of Jefferson City in the early days. For twelve years, 1896 to 1908, he served as a stockholder and director of the First National Bank. He was greatly interested in any activities for the advancement of the city and was connected with many such movements. He retired from active business, however, twenty years ago.
Mrs Wagner, nee Theresia C Walther, was a daughter of Mr and Mrs Albert Walther and was born at the farm home near the mouth of the Moreau, January 8 1858. She spent her early years on the farm there and was educated in the schools in Jefferson City.
They were married Oct 8, 1878, the wedding taking place on the Moreau and was one of the largest affairs of its kind in those days. Hundreds of relatives and other acquaintances attended from Cole and Osage Counties.
The two well known residents, although advanced in age, are active and in exceptionally good health. Mr Wagner finds time to take frequent trips through the woodlands near here on hunting expeditions. He is one of the most ardent squirrel hunters in the section. Mrs Wagner keeps busy with her house work which gives her great enjoyment.
Hundreds of congratulations were extended to them today by friends in Jeff City and surrounding communities.
All the living children are here for the celebration."

1963-1994 HISTORY: Bob Wagner [nephew] and Pam Wagner his wife were able to visit Ruth and her father at their apartment, 323-A E. McCarty Street, Jeff City, MO. Adolph was a pharmacist at G.A.Fischer Drug and Ruth also worked there as a cashier and in the cosmetic department . It was the only job she ever had.
Bob visited Ruth when he had Dental lectures in Omaha and Springfield MO, as well as when Bob went with Kent Kimister to the Chicago mid-winter Dental meeting. After buying our home in 1977, also began to drive back to visit, one year taking son Paul with us, going to Minnisota a couple of times and driving down to visit. Bob and Pam began going with his sister and husband several times, including her funeral and the year after to finish her estate, as well as several times after to visit other family we had met. She was fun to visit with, and we enjoyed taking her to lunch or dinner at Nick's Homestead, Yen's Chinese buffet and across the River to the Olive Garden in Columbia. She also loved to go to Stevenson's Apple Farm in Independence, but we did not get the chance to take her there.
Ruth loved to go out to eat and spent many days a month going with Lucy and Lloyd Tracy to the cemetery and to their home and to restaurants, as well as Clare Brocksiek, Ruby and Al, Virgie, Jim and Susie Wisch, and others. Jim's birthday was the same day as Ruth's and they celebrated them together many years. [see Family History-Wagner, Ruth]

1994 DEATH,BURIAL: MO,Cole Co-Jefferson City: Ruth Elizabeth Wagner died 5 Oct 1994; buried Riverview Cemetery, same row as parents. Bob, Pam and Paul went back to the funeral. After, we , along with Ruth's niece, who didn't know about Bob, separated things out in her apartment. I remember making a list aand putting who received what from the will and otherwise. S"he was not too happy about the situation. Bob and I had to get back to MT for work and mission business, so left Paul to clean up the apartment, make sure everything was in order, taking thre rest not taken to Good Will. He also dedicated her grave. We had rented a U-Haul to carry what furniture we had back home, and Paul had the tan van. He bought some ice crean at Central Dairy and it lasted until back to Montana, using dry ice. That started the tradition of buying that wonderful ice crem and bringing it home.

Said she sent her the Family Register of the RAIDY family.
Grandfather: Michael Raidy, the third child of twelve children, born in Co. Kerry, Ireland. The family came to the USA when he was quite a young boy and settled at Crown Point, N.Y., not far from Platsburg, where more of the children were born. Moved to New Foundout, Canada (abt 12-15 miles from where we live), where his younger brothers and sisters were born. All of them are dead now. The only ones I knew personally were Aunt JoHannah, Uncle Tim, Uncle Jerry (Dr. O'Ready) and Aunt Mary and Uncle Pat.
Uncle Tim's family lived near Crown Point. He had one son and four daughters. They visited us years ago when we were children but I have lost track of them.
Aunt JoHannah md Bernard O'Connor and they lived about 12 miles from us in Canada. I think there were 12 children in their family.... The youngest son, Bernard, lives in the old home, and has three children (boy in Army, one at home, a dau, trained nurse, in Montreal Hosp).
Aunt Mary md Bill Cahilll and they lived in Constable, about 8 miles from us. They had 4 sons: Will, John, George & Elmer, 1 dau Lillian (md Elmer Brady & lives nr Platsburg).
Uncle Pat's family I knew best of all. Three children: Mary (Mae), Tom and Arthur (Artie). They lived in N. Adams, Mass & came to visit us for summer hollidays. Mae & I started to teach school about the same time. I taught 11 yrs before I was md. Mae never md and taught until she died, about 5 years ago. Artie was your mother's special chum-his wife says she never could of got him if Margaret (your mother) had not been his cousin. Artie and Tom both live in New York City. Artie has 2 sons, Art Jr & Heaton, both md & Art Jr has 3 children. Heaton md last June.
Uncle Jerry, when a young man, started to study for the priesthood but while at college met and fell in love with with a very beautiful girl, Rose Crilly. He transferred his studies from theology to Medicine and fraduated an MD instead of a Priest. He md Aunt Rose, went west and settle in Millbank S.D, where he practiced until his death, some 30 years ago. They had 4 children: Henry, Blanche, Will & (I think) Katharine. It's a good many yrs since I have heard anything of them. Uncle Jerry wrote his name Dr. O'Ready, & in the west he used his middle name James instead of Jerry... Blanche md a Mr. Otto, Henry in grocery business, Will served overseas in last war.
