WWII - Vivian Edwards | ||
Vivian E. Edwards - October 27, 1944 in France during World War II Today I have reflected about my father and his service to our great country. He was a WWII Vet who survived the US Army landing on Utah Beach in Normandy, France, as well as other horrors of his four and a half years of service. He was married to my mother in 1941, My older brother Rick was born in 1943 before my father left for Europe. I remember my father telling me he promised himself if he ever returned home to my mother, he would never leave her again. My father loved my mother so deeply and life was good just to be with her. My father was proud of his country, his military service, and those he served with. I am thankful to all our great men and women who have served, died and kept our great country free. God bless all of them. May those serving today be protected and know they are thought highly for what they do by so many. The photo below was taken in 1941 in Washington State. The second was taken somewhere in France on 27 October 1944. The second photo shows the sadness and stress of war on my father's face. Love and miss you DAD!!! Thanks for your service. Your loving daughter

The Fire Mission Journal from WWII in France, Germany, England Contains details of missions during WWII from the 11th of August, 1944 through the 28th of April 1945. "This was again a day of movement but odd in the fact that we, the medium artillery, were as is often our lot, spearheading the attack. We started at the rear, approach the center, low and behold, even the calvary and infantry eat our dust--dusk finds us at Brenberg, Germany--just short of the Beautiful Blue Danube. Incidentally, in occupying present positions we policed a total of 217 enemy prisoners." 25 April 1945
From the Fire Mission Journal of Vivian E. Edwards, the Stars and Stripes Newspaper dated 15 August 1945 with the Headline, "War Ends" "Truman Announces Total Surrender" and many other articles of interest are included. |
