1850-1851 Probate for August Sigfreid Dubuque County, Iowa 6 Sep 1850 August Sigfreid, late of Dubuque County, died in August last intestate. His wife died on the same day, leaving several children. Harvey Thompson appointed administrator. 10 Sep 1850 An inventory of August's personal and real estate was taken. His land: E 1/2 of SW 1/4 and SE of NW 1/4 in Section 20 of Township 90 in Range 2E. August left behind 6 orphan children. 20 Jun 1851 Much of August Sigfried's personal property was sold at public sale for $251.95. The administrator reserved 1 cow and calf and other smaller items for Mrs Gardner [Gorins], the grandmother of the children, who was maintaining the 2 youngest children. The administrator had to pay $93.20 for the maintenance of the children, funeral costs, and other expenses regarding August's real and personal estate. 1855-1857 Probate for John Gorins Dubuque County, Iowa Jan Term 1857 Catherine Gorins was the administrator of John Gorin's estate. She was John's widow and was appointed administrator 18 months ago. All debts have been paid. The estates of John Gorins and Augustus Siegfried owe money to each other. Augustus's wife Mary, also deceased, was the sister of John. The money from John's estate meant for his sister will go to her children. John died childless. He left 2 brothers and 3 sisters (1 deceased).
