![]() | 1790 US Census for Nath and Jeremiah Leavitt Chester, Rockingham, New Hampshire, p. 103 In the household of Nath Leavitt: 1 male over 16 1 male under 16 1 female In the household of Jeremiah Leavitt: 1 male over 16 1 males under 16 1 female There is another Nathaniel Leavitt living in Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire in the 1790 census. The Hampton Nathaniel was living next to a James Leavitt and near a Thomas and Thomas Leavitt Jr. The correct Nathaniel does not have any siblings or children named Thomas and James, so it is likely not the right one. The Nathaniel in Chester is living next to Jeremiah, a known son. There is another Jeremiah Leavitt living in Exeter, Rockingham, New Hampshire in the 1790 census. That Jeremiah's household consists of 3 males under 16, 5 males 16 and over, and 6 females. This is too large to be the correct Jeremiah, who was married in the mid 1780s and only had 2 sons by 1790. Furthermore, the neighbors of the Chester Jeremiah include his father (Nathaniel) and some of his wife's family (the Shannon family). | |
