At his residence 12 miles nw of Columbia MO, Mar 12 1890, of la grippe
and pneumonia, Mr Elijah Hawkins, an old and respected citizen, in the 73rd yr
of his age. He was buried at Bethlehem church, Rev Green Carey making a few
remarks. The roads being almost impassable prevented many relatives and
friends from attending his funeral which will be preached hereafter.
