      In the name of God amen I Elijah Hawkins of the County of Madison and
      State of Kentucky being at the present under the afflicting hand of providence
      and weak in body but of sound an perfect mind and memory, blessed be all
      mightly God for the same and at the same time considering the uncertainty of
      this mortal life do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner
      and form following, that is to say:
      First it is my will and desire that as much of my property be sold as
      will pay my just debts and the balance if any to remain in the hands of my
      beloved wife Nancy Hawkins if any. It is further my will and desire that my
      wife have the sole use and benefit of my plantation during her natural
      life...or her remaining my widow and then the whold of land and what property
      remains to be sold and the money arising there from to be divided as follows,
      towit: My sons Weeden and John Hawkins to have Eighty Dollars each and the
      Balance to be Equally Divided among my children. Nevertheless, it is my desire
      that if the money can be raise to let my son Weeden have his Eighty Dollars
      when he comes of age and I do appoint my son James B Hawkins and my Beloved
      wife my whole and sole Executors of this my last will and testament.
      In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fith day
      of June 1815.

      I William Irvine Clerk of the Court for the County afresaid do hereby
      certify that at Cct Court held for Madison County on Monday the sixth day of
      May 1816, this instrument of writing was produced in court and proven to be the
      last will and testament of Elijah Hawkins, deceased, by the oath of Thomas
      Poindexter, John Gressham and Lydia Gressham, witnesses thereto and ordered to
      be recorded.

      7 October 1816, in the amount of $455.35 3/4, signed by William Riley, Thomas
      Crews, and Tomas Lanham and recorded by Will Irvine.

      Irvine. The list of buyers included William Witherson, Green Kimbell, Boaz
      Massey, William Rayburn, William Igo, Joseph Matoll, George Tomling, Archibald
      Johns, Thomas Landham, Tomas Tugler, John Belsher, Jessee Griffeth, John
      Grissom, John Bill, James Hawkins, William Ryley, Joseph Acrez. Nancy Hawkins
      bought the family Bible at estate sale..

      of Madison on the waters of Taylors Fork of Silver Creek, being part
      of a preemption granted unto Lewis Brag as assigneee of Jonathon
      Jennings and bounded as follows: Beg at hackberry and hickory tree on
      Thorny White line now Gallon Whites Land, thence N 45 deg W 96 poles
      to where a hickory, a redbud and sugartree stood as as corner in a
      small bottom, thence N 45 E 162 poles to a sugar tree and hickory,
      thence S 43 E 106 poles to a hickory and elm, thence S 46 W 160 poles
      to beg - 100 acres.
