    Robert Lamar Metcalf, age 88, of Provo, Utah, passed away on March 13, 2012. Born Dec. 21, 1923, to Frank and Ivy Metcalf in Richfield, Idaho. Married to Gail Hughes for 67 years, sealed Nov. 18, 1950, in Mesa Arizona LDS Temple.

    Bob served as a pilot in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. A builder by trade, Bob loved music and sports of all kinds. He loved people and especially enjoyed his service as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife served six missions together. He served in various church capacities including Bishop.

    Survivors include his wife, Gail, and siblings Milan (wife Kay), Lorna Condie, and Marilyn Fullmer; children Elaine (husband Tim) Deitrick, Jennifer Caesar, and Rob (wife Karleen) Metcalf; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Lyman Metcalf, Frank Metcalf Jr., Eloise Bird, Evelyn Bird, Lucille Alleman, and Wilby Metcalf.

    Funeral services will be held at the Edgemont 9th Ward chapel on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., 4295 North Canyon Road, Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held at the same place on March 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion.
