Laura Thurlo was born in Sullivan county, Missouri on Feb. 18, 1855. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs John Miles Thurlo and was married to B. T. Jolley on December 24, 1872 and to this union 2 children were born, Mrs Pearl Engle of Trenton and M. Earnest Jolley of Coulee City, Wash., both of whom were present at the funeral. Mrs. Jolley was bereft of parents when a child and was cared for by relatives until her marriage to Mr. Jolley. After her marriage to Mr Jolley they purchased the old Thurlo homestead where they have since resided until moving to this city some 6 years ago. Mrs. Jolley always seemed so frail in health but possessed a wonderful amount of energy and was on of those who never gave up. She had a kind and cheerful disposition and was always ready to help the sick and needy and which she took great interest.
She was stricken with Pneumonia the last days of November which with other complications caused her death on Thursday, December 5th. All that loving hands and medical skill could do was done but to no avail. Short funeral services were conducted at the family home by Elder B D Bolling on Sunday at 1 o'clock in the presence of a goodly number of relatives and friends who had come to pay their last respects to one who was a friend to all. The choir sang that beautiful song entitled, "Lead, Kindly Light." After the singing and services the body was conveyed to the beautiful Hoover Cemetery where it was laid to rest. She leaves a husband, son and daughter, besides a hosst of relatives and friends to mourn her death. Mr Jolley and children have the sympathy of all in their hours of grief.--Leader-Record.
