  		1837 Declaration of Intention to Naturalize for Augustus Siegfried Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania 25 December 1837 Court of Common Pleas, Schuylkill County Augustus Siegfried, a native of Leiberstung, Baden now a resident of Schuylkill County, 30 years old declared his intention to become a citizen of the United States on 25 Dec 1837. It is important to note that this record, from Schuylkill Co., PA was found in Dubuque Co., IA Intent to Naturalize records. For the Dubuque County Court to have this Pennsylvania record, Augustus must have turned over his original paperwork to the court in Iowa. This proves that Augustus continued the naturalization process after he migrated to Iowa, although it is not clear if he actually became a Citizen before his death in 1849. source: FamilySearch.org. His wife died on the same day, leaving several children. Harvey Thompson appointed administrator. 10 Sep 1850 An inventory of August's personal and real estate was taken. His land: E 1/2 of SW 1/4 and SE of NW 1/4 in Section 20 of Township 90 in Range 2E. August left behind 6 orphan children. 20 Jun 1851 Much of August Sigfried's personal property was sold at public sale for $251.95. The administrator reserved 1 cow and calf and other smaller items for Mrs Gardner [Gorins], the grandmother of the children, who was maintaining the 2 youngest children. The administrator had to pay $93.20 for the maintenance of the children, funeral costs, and other expenses regarding August's real and personal estate. He also paid taxes on the real estate and for clothing for the children. August's real estate consists of the SW 1/4 of Section 20 of Township 90 in Range 2 East. Payment has been given to Mrs. Gorins, the grandmother of the children, for taking care of 2 children. Oct 1856 The administrator made a final report on the estate of August Siegfried. 29 Oct 1856 Catherine Gorins, administrator of the estate of John Gorins, paid $170.28 to the estate of August Siegfried. She was John's widow and was appointed administrator 18 months ago. All debts have been paid. The estates of John Gorins and Augustus Siegfried owe money to each other. Augustus's wife Mary, also deceased, was the sister of John. The money from John's estate meant for his sister will go to her children. John died childless. He left 2 brothers and 3 sisters (1 deceased). John's estate was divided between his widow and siblings. Mar Term 1857 Final account of John Gorins' estate. Note: John Gorins' probate process began in 1855. His probate has many pages. These final pages were the only ones to refer to his siblings.
