He came to Utah with the second band of pioneers in 1848 and during the days of his youth and middle life was active and prominent in civil and ecclesiastical circles." The Probate Record of Thomas Speirs Thomas died without a will. Through this an extensive probate file of 150 pages was created in which all of his possible heirs had to be notified. His estate was valued at around $4000 in 1877 (equivalent to just under $90,000 in 2016). Adam Speirs, Thomas' son, was the petitioner for the estate. | ||
