- Otto is a German name not Dutch, however living so close to Germany, it is possible that there
was intermarriage in earlier generations. Capt Otto Van Tuyl died in 1705 when his ship, the Privateer "The Castle Del Key," 130 tons, 18 guns, was wrecked on East bank of Sandy Hook, off Staten Island, on the 19th of Dec. 1705; Mr. Cortelyou of the Narrows failed in his rescue."
