1856-1857 Probate Records for Martin Carpenter Estate Cambria County, Pennsylvania Martin Carpenter died before 4 March 1856 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. He died intestate, meaning he did not leave a will. March Term 1856 Martin Carpenter owned 100 acres. Adam V Carpenter, an heir, petitioned the court to equally divide this land between Martin's 7 heirs: widow Margaret and 6 children: John, Martin, Adam V, Elizabeth (married E B Goodwin), and Louisa (married William Erwin). Henry is missing from the list of heirs, but his name appears in later probate records. June Term 1856 Martin Carpenter's 100 acres cannot be equally divided between the heirs. The land was valued at $500. September Term 1856 Henry Carpenter, an heir, wanted to buy the shares of the other heirs. December Term 1857 Henry Carpenter purchased the shares of the other heirs.
