Mrs. Anna Katherine Wagner, one of the oldest and most highly respected ladies of Jefferson City, died at her home in the city at 6:40 Friday morning. Mrs. Wagner was almost 74 years of age and had resided in Jefferson City for
many years.
She was the mother of the following prominent citizens of the State of Missouri and of other states: William W Wagner, postmaster of Jeff City; Conrad Wagner of this city, a retire capitalist; Henry Wagner of St Louis, Lawrence Wagner, who is engaged in business in Shannon Co; Christopher, who resides in San Francisco, California; Louis Wagner of Denver, Col; Mrs. Katherine Peasner, wife of George Peasner, of Jeff City.
She was born in Bavaria and emigrated to this county when a child with her parents, who located at Osage City, and from which place she came to this city. She belonged to one of the wealthiest and most prominent families of this state, and leaves a host of friends and relatives to mourn her death.
She was a Christian lady and belonged to Evangelical Central Church.
The funeral services will be conducted at this church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev C Hoffman, the pastor of that church. The interment will be in the cemetery of this church on South Washington Street." [now in Riverview].

I N M E M O R I A M: Anna Katherina Wagner (nee Wolfrum) who departed this life on the 3rd day of April 1903, was born at Mussen near Munchberg in Oberfranken, Bavaria on the 23rd of April 1989. As a 12 yr old girl, she emigrated together with her parents, brothers and sisters to America, in September of 1841. After a difficult voyage of three months, the travelers disembarked at New Orleans, and they arrived her in Jeff City on the 4th of March 1842. Five miles east of
town, her parents bought a farm, which is still owned today by the brother of the deceased, Mr. Ulrich Wolfrum.
On the 29th of January, 1849, she was married to the brewer, Mr Georg Wagner, who operated a brewery eight miles east of town, in the vicinity of Osage City. From this marriage resulted 13 children, of whom 7 are still living: Conrad, residing here in town; Lorenz presently working in a timber construction business in Monteer, Shannon Co MO; Wilhelm, owner of the Monroe House and presently postmaster; Henry, owner of the Grand Union Hotel and Restaurant in St Louis; Christoph, businessman in San Francisco, Cal; Louis, practicing attorney in Denver, Col and and Mrs George Peasner of this city. Her husband, Mr Georg Wagner, preceded here in death on the 24th of Sept 1895.
In the summer of 1870, when Mr Wagner bought the Gundelfinger Brewery here, she moved with her husband into town. Since his death, she was living with her eldest son, Conrad Wagner.
Surviving are a brother, Ulrich Wolfrum, who is living at the old homestead, and a sister, Mrs Elizabeth Wagner of this town. Mrs Charles Urban of Osage City and Mrs Nicolaus Melcher of this city, who were sisters of the deceased, passed on a few years ago. The departed is survived by 31 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her brother, Nicolaus Wolfrum died unmarried years ago.
The deceased was widely known and highly respected. Her funeral turned out to be one of the largest ever taking place in this city.

He was united in marriage in the Spring of 1849 to Anna R., daughter of Nicholas Wolfrum, a farmer near Osage City, she also being a native of Bavaria. Mr. Wagner was the father of thirteen children, of whom seven are still living;
