Francisca Cibrian Bouttier BRIEF NOTES FOR THE HISTORY OF ROSARIO. Photograph from 1870, of the girl Francisca Cibrian y Aragón, 5 years old. Francisca was born in 1865 on the Mariscal estate, one of the most active agricultural estates during the 19th century in the Rosario district, which contributed to the development of mining at the end of that century. She was the daughter of Don Juan José Cibrian García, a rich landowner of Rosario and of Doña Paula de Aragón. She was orphaned very young, so her uncle, Don Teófilo Noris Cibrian, Rosario's boy hero, took care of both her and hers, her brother Santiago de ella Cibrian. She was sent by her uncle to the United States to a nun's college in San Francisco. Upon returning to Mexico, she settled again in Rosario, living in house number 24 on Romero Rubio Street, next to the old parish. She owned the Mariscal farm. She was one of the Rosarenses who most defended the ancient temple when it was damaged by the mining company. The photo was taken at the Bayley & Winter studio 618 Washington Street, next to Maguire's Opera House. Image and information courtesy of the Cronista de la Ciudad. | ||
