- He had two dau. by his first wife, they were Elizabeth & Hannah, "Hyde Genealogy", p.7.
He was ordained a Deacon, to his office in the First Church, Saybrook, in 1646, and resigned in 1660, when he removed to Norwich..... He was one of the earliest: proprietors of Saybrook & Lyme; the Saybrook records mention him as present at a town mtg. 7 Jan 1665/6, with Reinold Marvin, William Waller, and William Bushnell; he was a freeman in Norwich in 1669; Miss Caulkins describes his home-lot. He was a townsman there in 1674, '76, ]79, '80, '82, '84 and '86. By his first marriage Adgate had two daughters, Elizabeth & Hannah, the younger of whom married her step-brother, Richard Bushnell, Jr.
