Deseret News as press feeder & bindry. Utah Central Rail Road as painter apprentice. Job painting in Great Salt Lake City, fireman & pump engineer Ontario Mine, Park City. Machinist apprentice D.R. & G.R.R. & cooperative Iron Wrks. Studied under Karl G. Measer at BYU, & worked as machinist at Provo Foundry. Worked at Silver Bros., machinists at Salt Lake City; linotype machinist at the Herald. Went to Linotype School in New York City; returned to Herald to maintain 8 modle Linotypes & general plant upkeep.
1900-1924 HIST: Funeral address for Marcus, March 1949: "Came to the Oregonian newpaper in Portland Oregon 1900 for Supt. C.A. Morden.
1905: Had a bad head injury in 1905 which troubled him for several years. Joined with Al Cochran in a mechanical & electrical contracting firm, later returning to the Oregonian.
1921-22: Mother died 9 May1921 in Portland. Father and Ximena toured Utah following the death of mother & returned home sick, confined to bed several months during winter 1922.
1924: Went to Dr. Work for treatment & returned to the Oregonian Newspaper spring of 1924.
