Schuyler to Garrent Schuyler 2 June 1814 Transcribed from Liber 12 of Deeds page 197 "This Indenture made fifteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven between Aarent P. Schuyler and Hannah his wife of the township of Saddle River in the County of Bergen and State of New Jersey of the first part and Philip I Schuyler of the township of Saddle River County and State oforesaid and Garret Schuyler of the County of Orange and State of New York of the second part Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Seven hundred and fifty Dollars money of the United States to them in hand paid at and before the unsealing and delivery of these presents the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold remised released and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell remise release and do confirm unto the said parties of the second part and to their heirs and assigns forever. The one equal undivided eighth part of the lands formerly in possession of Peter Schuyler late of Bergen County deceased..." On page 609 Philip I. Schuyler quit claims his part to Garret Schuyler for $375 dollars on 2 June 1814. This is probably Philip Isaac Schuyler, son of Arent Schuyler 1715-1806 and Helena Van Wagenen who married Catherine Duryea 14 December 1797. The executor of Philip's estate (died without a will) in February 1834 was Isaac Schuyler. Aarent could be Aaron P. Schuyler and Hannah Worden. Philip N Schuyler - Firelands Pioneer, volume 17, page 1622 Schuyler, Phillip N., a son of Garrett Schuyler, was born in Minisink, N.J. on September 6, 1819. In 1829 he moved with his parents to Ohio. He later went to Norwalk where he attended school and taught school. He studied law and began practice in Akron, Ohio, but returned to Norwalk in 1854. In 1859 he was married to Elizabeth Thatcher. She died six years later. In 1870 he moved to Bellevue, where he died May 13, 1907. He left two sons, W.T. and Hamilton. He was one of the charter members of the Firelands Historical Society and was three times president of it. He was a delegate to the republican convention which nominated Abraham Lincoln and seconded the motion which turned Ohio's votes and gave Mr. Lincoln the nomination. |
