Sprague, John, Lieut., m. Lois Abel, Mar. 21, 1726
Other than this record, there is no evidence that John married a Lois Abel. It is possible that this is an error on the part of the clerk and that she is Lois Standish Calkins, d. of Josiah Standish, who is shown in a deed as Lowes Sprague. It is also possible (but not likely), that she married a man surnamed Abel between the death of her first husband and the marriage to John. The third possibility is that John married a Lois Abel and Lois Standish married another Sprague. The first option seems more reasonable, but is unproven.
