He left Eng Jan 1774. He was an indentured servant. This could be our Thomas, Sr but we have no proof. If so, he would hv bn bn abt 1753 & hs wife wd hv bn abt 70 when Thomas dd & she wd hv bn abt 24 when Thomas Jr ws bn. Most of passengers who indentured themselves to pay for their passage to this country hd to srv 3 yrs but during that time they
    were not allowed to marry. It was possible for a srvnt to pay back part of his indenture if they could earn the money. Taken from "Emigrants from England 1774-1776' pg 25 by Fathergill.
