    May 1992: Kathryn Varko Smith (Leo): Peggy and Sloan lived on the ranch where Jule lived last. When Jule lived there, Peggy and Sloan lived in house in Echo. The ranch house began to have bees nests and honey oozed from the walls and Jule had to move out and lived in a trailer on the ranch. Doris enjoyed Aunt Peggy's girls and spent time in Portland with Aunt Peggy. Linda (Leo's girl) lived in Portland and saw Aunt Peggy, her mind beginning to wander and could not remember things too well.

    NOTES from Pam Hallmark Wagner: "Aunt Peggy lived Echo OR-had both town house & ranch house (Jewell lived in ranch house). Many fond memories of family gatherings at beautiful home in Echo where Aunt Peggy cooked wonderful meals, using much butter, cream, eggs. Remember Grandma Lennie Bell Smith-big birthday party there-my aunts, uncles, cousins. Aunt Peggy lived with Mary Carol in Portland, OR-in Hollywood District, then to house on river after Peggy helped son in law, Bill, go to med school."

    HISTORY: June 1991 visit by Pam with mother, June Smith Hallmark: "...when family in Hermiston, they grew melons, had chickens, alfalfa; they had a work horse, which I got to ride, but none of the other grandchildren did. Marcus and Lennie lived in a small house in Hermiston: bedroom, livingroom, kitchen, pantry, back porch. At one time when June was a baby [1923-24], Vern & family lived across from the folks, where the "Y" is in the road..".
    June 1992: June Smith Hallmark: ...Grandpa Marcus had grain in the barn and would let no one play in it, except June [she said she was a favorite of Grandpa's, and he would let her ride on his horse, would put her up there and she could hardly get her legs around horse] Grandpa would irrigate at night, barefooted.
