    Zachary Taylor Sperry bn LaPorte,Sullivan PA 17 Feb 1848, 1 of 12 children of Christopher B & Rachel McCann Sperry. Died at home Edmond KS 15 Jan 1926.
    11 Feb 1875 md Ellen Michael who survives. 8 children, the living: Frank of Logan KS, Alvah & Harrison-Edmond, Roy-Rock River WY, Earl & Edna-KC
    1877 came to KS, settling in Jewell Co. 2 yrs later to Graham Co, took homestead on Bow Crk, 6 miles so of Edmond, which was his home for nearly 45 yrs. Here he reared his family & made contributions to institutions & prosperity of country. Among "empire builders" deserving of rank, he drove ox team to this country which was just being settled. The neighbors worked together in erecting sod mansions.
    He was characteristically honest, industrious, hospitable & fulfilled the requirements of Jehovah, "To do justice, love, kindness & to walk humbly with thy God."

    Funeral services for Mrs Sarah Ellen (ZT) Sperry, almost 90 years, be today (Thurs,22 May) from United Brethren Church in Edmond 2 p.m. Mrs Sperry died suddenly in her home 5pm Tues am.
    Sermon delivered by Rev Ralph Walters of Toronto, formerly of Edmond. Pall bearers: Vernie Huffman, Earl Snider, Bill Newbold, Warren Conkey, Fred Cupples & Ernest Markham. Laid to rest in Edmond Cem.

    Mrs Sperry bn 31 May 1857 Berwick PA. Came to KS as young woman, res in Mitchell & Clay Co for short time bef coming to this section-res for 69 yrs. Mr & Mrs Sperry lived in northern Graham Co until 1919 when moved into Edmond. Mr Sperry died there in 1919.
    Mrs Sperry was mother of 8 children, 2 of whom preceded her in death-1 son,1 dau. Surviving: Edna & Earl-KC, Harry & Alva of Edmond, Roy of Caldwell ID, Frank of Stockon KS.

    May 2002-Norton KS city library genealogy room by Bob and Pam Wagner, copy of "The Norton (Kansas) Daily Telegram, Obit: "Sarah Ellen Sperry" title: "Sarah Ellen Michael was born in Berwick PA 31 May 1857. Her parents were Andrew and Rebecca Michael. She moved with her parents to a farm near LaPorte PA when she was 12 yrs old. On Feb 11, 1875, she was united in marriage to Zachary Taylor Sperry, of LaPorte. To this union was born eight children. Her husband predeceased her on Jan 15 1926; also two children: Edith and Ralph, both of whom died in infancy. Surviving children are: Frank W Ssperry-Stockton KS; Aalvia E and Harrison C Sperry of Edmond; Roy A Sperry of Caldwell ID; Edna R and Myron Earl Sperry of Kansas City MO.
    In 1920 Atha Markham Sperry, the wife of Alvia Sperry, died and Mrs. Sperry performed a mother's part in rearing his three children, Lawrence E, now of Witchita Kas.; Ivan E, Colorado Springs; and Mrs Erma Belden of Edmond. There are eight other grandchildren and nine great grandchildren."
