The inscription on his gravestone at Glastonbury, Conn., states that he was the first male child born in New Haven. He md. 1st, about 1662, Mary Robbins, born 20 Jan 1641, died bef 1680, dau. of "Gentleman John Robbins" and his wife Mary Wells. Her identityi established by a document filed in the distribution of the estate of John Robbins (1660), one clause reading, "Granted to Mr. Kimberly that is to match with Mary Robbins...." Thomas & his wife Alice, came with the Non-Conformists to Dorchester in New England in 1636. In 1638 the family moved to the new settlement of New Haven Connecticut, where Thomas was admitted a freeman in Nov 1639. He was a member of the train band in 1640 & marshal of the New Haven colony from 1643 to 1661 & was one of the seventy proprietors.
Alice Kimberly died 10 Oct 1659 in New Haven & Thomas married his secon wife, Mary, daughter of Robert Seabrook of Stratford, Conn., & widow of William Preston of New Haven. She died in 1673.
In 1659 Thomas Kimberly was in Stratford & bought land there of Joseph Hawley 18-10-1663. In 1667 he was admitted a "sojourner" of Stratford & died there in 1673. His will dated 11 Jan 1671/2 names his wife Mary, sons Nathaniel, Thomas, Eleazer & AbrahaM, daughter Abiah Boardman & her 3 children, Hachaliah and Joseph Preston and grandchildren: Nathaniel, Elizabeth and Mary Hayes.
Children by first wife: Thomas, b in 1632 probably in London; d in Feb. 1705 in New Haven, Conn.; married Hannah Russell, dau. of James & Mary(Hall) Russell, who died 28 Nov 1714 in New Haven.
