    Mr Holt is a Nichols, but not directly in our line looks like. Mr Holt said he
    was called "Abe" and lived down Brown Road, first house to left.

    NOTES: Talked to Mrs Ken Holt (see Abram D 4245). She niece of Annie. Annie's
    sister, Suzie Mary md Emmett Crews and is Mrs Holt's mother. Other
    sisters of Annie: Ella,Carie. Used to live on old Sexton Rd (now Route E), some
    of Kings came from around Midway. Her grandparents, James King and wife buried
    at New Providence. The Holts attend church there. On Cemetery Records of MO,
    shows another sister, Ada M 1873-1888.

    PERCHE TWP..pg 1067: Callaham's Lick. This is another of the early
    landmarks of this section. It is situated on the farm of Joel Hawkins, which
    is the northwest quarter of Section 13, TWP 49, Range 14. The salt springs,
    some 15-20 in number, are on the east side of Callaham Creek, whcih takes its
    name from William Callaham, who pitched his tent near those springs several
    years in advance of the earliest settlers of this part of Boone Co.
    In Settlement & Migration Data Base, says there is some confusion about
    Joel and Joseph - both show married to Zarelda. Joel shows md to Eliza Ellen
    Little 9 Apr 1840 in Boone Co Mg Rcds 1821-1849, pg 189 and Sarelda E or Zerelda
    E Little. 1870 Census shows Joseph and Joel not found, other years show Joel.

He had long been a member of the Baptist Church, and by his death the church lost occasion of its most pious members; the neighborhood, use of its most valued companions. His pious walk, his uprightness in the ...of life, and his courteous manners both home and abroad are well worth the mention.

    NOTES: History of Boone Co, MO, page 1069-70: Early settlers-the Praire Fork, Silvers, Squire Schooling and Kincaid settlements date back as remotely as the most primitive elsewhere in the county. From Perchtown north, along the Perche, the first settlers were...among the early settlers must not be omitted the name of ..., James Hawkins,... (Isom Kilgore).

    "HISTORY OF HOWARD AND CHARITON COUNTIES", pg 958, shows that James had seven children, Harrison being #3. 1830 census shows 1 male 15-20, 1840 census shows 1 female 5-10 but no male at home 25-30.
    In same article, said "he was from the Kentucky branch of one of the oldest families in Virginia. His grandfather (Jame's father) Elijah Hawkins became a pioneer settler in KY prior to the beginning of the present century, and there his son James, who had come with this parents from Virginia, was married to Miss Nancy White (Tomblin?) of the Blue Grass State. In 1824 James moved to Missouri, making the journey on the Ohio, Mississippi and MO Rivers, to the town of Old Franklin, in Howard Co, by keelboat and were 2 months and 7 days on boat. Settled in Boone Co where Harrison grew to manhood.
