The guardianship was very often accomplished by a member of the family. Also the fact that Sander had a son Seger and that both Sander & Johan van der Poll had daughters called Johanna are indications.Sander was mentioned as a Schout of Brakel(1497), vassal of the Lord of Brakel (1494-1527), Servant of the marshal of Enssen, alderman of the High Bench of Zuilichem (1492). Apparently his 2nd wife was much younger than he was b.in 1483. Sources:(1) New Netherland Connections 1st Quarter 2002, 974.7 D25nne V.7m.1,pp.1-8, 81,

FHL 929.273 V 369v, Chp 3 p. 46." Sander lived to be very old. Probably dying around 1527. But in Dec 1526 he was still alive,& engaged in lawsuits in Valburg. In view of the fact that he was already a mem.
(guardian) of one of his relatives in 1464, he must have passed the age of 80 in 1526. When he testified at a trial in Tiel in 1512 , he was referred to as an "old man".

During his life Arnt owned property near Ede in the Veluwe region, in the villages of Est & Bennecom, and the city of Arnhem. Employed at the Duke's castle at Oyen, on the southern bank of the Maas, Arnt apparently administered the castle's food supply, perhaps even working as a cook.
His family would become prominent village leaders in Est, as we shall see, but they did not settle there permanently, continuing to move on, generation by generation, from village to village, in search of opportunity, land & position. Throughout the next century they would continue to be soldiers of Gelre, battling the enemies of the Duke, who were - after the 14th century - no longer just internal challenges, but formidable outside foes as well.
