Wilfredo Espinoza Lazo is a historian who specializes in Chontales. He says he remembers seeing the tomb of Vital Miranda. He was originally interred in the cemetery, but the people of the city moved his remains to the church. In 2000, Father Pedro exhumed his remains to place them beneath the new temple.
