    Notes:

    After the death of Catherine's first husband, Hugh Swinford, she became governess to the children of John of Gaunt, later to become his mistress and concubine, at which time, she bore him four children. After the death of John of Gaunt's second wife, Constance, they were married (1396/7) and later that same year, their children were legitimized and their marriage was confirmed by Parliament which sat between 22 Jan and 12 Feb 1936/7 and by the Pope in September 1396 and by King Richard II in Feb 1397.

    Daughter Blanche Beaufort, is the daughter of John of Gaunt and his mistress, Maire de Ste. Hiliare. She was sealed to John and Catherine
