Funeral Services Held for Joseph Hardy, Pioneer Settler of Ashley Valley.

Funeral services for Joseph Hardy who passed away on Monday of last week, were held at the First Ward Chapel, the following Thursday at 2 p.m., under the direction of Driver E. Smith of the bishopric of the Vernal First Ward. The floral offerings were beautiful and profuse. The singing was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of H. Whitier Woolley, Frank Postma, Mrs. Mae Calder and Mrs. Mae Jorgensen. A solo was sung by Mrs. John L. Siddoway. The opening prayer was by Bishop Joseph McKee and President Ernest Eaton pronounced the benediction.

Many splendid tributes to the successful life of the deceased were paid by the speakers, H. Walter Woolley and Thomas Bngham. They mentioned the fine example his life was to his neighbors and of the early day hardships he endured to pioneer Ashley Valley.

Interment was at the Rock Point Cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Ernest Winn of Salt Lake City. The pallbearers, all grandchildren of the deceased, were Clinton and Art Dodds, Eldon Cook, Roy Templeton, Blaine and Norwood Hardy.

Mr. Hardy is survived by his widow, five daughters and four sons, Mrs. Cora Templeton, Sunbeam, Colorado; Joseph C., Charles A. of Vernal; Albert A., of Manila, Utah; Mrs. Rudy Dodds and Mrs. Ella Cook of Vernal, Mrs. Huldah Westover of Randlett and Mrs. Marie Tuft of Montana; and three sisters, Aunt Deb Johnson of Vernal; May Lachapelle of Salt Lake City and Adeline Robinson of Fillmore.
