George Tomlinson, Pension #5-31429 Virginia: The said applicant for a
pension had served in the War of the Revolution in capacity of a private
soldier in the line of the State of Virginia and on the date of 2 Nov 1832 he
was placed on the pension roll and on the date of 4 Mar 1831 he was at the age
of 80 years.
The above named soldier was residing in the County of Madison in the
State of Kentucky when he applied for a pension on the date of Aug 13 of the
year 1832 while he was at the age of 78 years. He states that he had enlisted
in the County of Orange in the State of Virginia in the month of June of the
year 1775.
He resided in the following places prior to the opening of the War of the
Revolution:

He resided in the following places since the close of the War of Revolution:
Madison County, State of Kentucky
He removed to the State of Kentucky in the year 1804 from the County of Orange
in the State of Virginia.

In the name of God, Amen, I George Tomblinson of Madison County,
Kentucky, geing weak in body but sound in mind, do hereby make and constitute
this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all others by me heretofore
made.
In the first place,it is my Will and desire that all my just debts be
paid, funeral expenses, etc. In the second place, it is my Will and desire
that all my property of every description, which I may ... and ... be sold by
my Executor hereafter to be named ...a credit of nine months to the highest
bidder, the Executor having first given notice of the time and place of sale.
Further, it is my Will and desire that my negro woman Caroline and her two
little children Rich & Austin be sold together to an individual and my Executor
is hereby directed to set them all three up at one and the same time, Winney,
Ann and Willy are to be sold separate. I have heretofore made a Deed of Gift
pf Elzand to the children of my son Ambrose D Tomblin, deceased and also a Deed
of Gift of Edy to my little grand daughter Elizabeth Boggs, daughter of my
deceased daughter Polly Boggs, which I hereby ratify and confirm. It is also
my wish and desire that the distribution of negroes heretofore made amongst my
children should ...and remain valid.
After my decease, sale of my property and the expenses are paid, it is
further my Will and desire that the proceeds of said sale be equally divided as
follows: To my daughter Francis Hopper, one ninth part of my Estate. To my
daughter Nancy Hawkings one ninth part of my Estate; to my grandchildren
Mourning, Eliza, Lucy Jane, Paulina, Jeremiah, Nancy, Margaret, George and
Sally Ann, children of my deceased son, Ambrose D Tomblin, one ninth part of my
Estate; to the children of my deceased son, Joel Tomblinson, one ninth part of
my Estate; to my little grand daughter, Elizabeth Boggs, daughter of my
deceased daughter Polly Boggs one ninth part of my Estate; to my little grand
daughter Sally Ann Tombinson, daughter of my deceased son Jeremiah Tomblinson
one ninth part of my Estate; to my son Richard Tombinson one ninth part of my
Estate; to my daughter Sally Boggs one ninth part of my Estate; to my son
Willis Tomblinson one ninth part of my Estate.
It is further my Will and desire that the County Court of Madison appoint
William Harris Guardian to the children of Ambrose D Tomblinson, dec'd; to the
child of Polly Boggs, deceased; to the children of Joel Tombinson, dec'd; and
to the child of Jeremiah Tomblinson, dec'd; and that the said Guardian to pay
over to my said grand children their respective portions of my Estate as they
may arrive at age, with the interest theron, and not before. In case any of my
grand children die before they are of age, it is my Will and desire that the
equaly portion of said children descend to their respective brother or sister
as the case may be, and in case they should leave no brother or sister, then it
is my Will and desire that their respective portions be equally divided amongst
my own children.
It is further my Will and desire that my friend William Harris act as my
Executor after my death, with full power to act and perform whatever may
propertly belong or appertain to him as my Executor.
Given under my hand and seal this 17th day of March 1835.

I David Irvine Clerk of the Court for the County aforesaid do hereby
certify that at a County Court held for Madison County on Monday the 1st day of
February 1841, this instrument of writing was presented in open Court, and
proven to be the last Will and Testament of George Tomblinson, deceased, by the
oaths of Joseph Turner and John Cornelison, subscribing their names thereto and
ordered to be entered of Record, which has been done accordingly.

his wife are the defendants....bargain and sell for and in behalf
of defendants unto said John and Thomas Scrivner...land containing
40 1/4 acres and bounded as follows: Beg at dogwood on NE corner
of Tomlin and heirs 104 1/4 acres, thence N 47 1/2 W 10 poles to
hickory and sugar tree Tomlins corner, thence with Tomlins line S
40 1/4 W 8 1/2 poles to stake in line of John and Benj Estell as
originally surveyed and patented, thence with their line 2/4 E 142
poles to stake in Tomlins line, then N Tomlins line N 45 E 109 3/4
poles to beg.
V470: 10 Nov 1834: George Tomlin of County of Madison-I bear to my
grandaughter Elizabeth Boggs, infant daughter of John Boggs, have
this day given and granted to her the said Eliz Boggs, one negro
girl named Soy, aged abt 6 yrs. In testimony whereof I have here-
unto set my hand and affixed my seal this Nov 10 1834.

V484: 8 Nov 1834: George Tomblin for Willis Tomblinson to John
Cornelison for $60 sold these patents to said John Cornelison the
said Willis Tombinson's interest, right and title, as one of the
children and heirs of Elizabeth Tomblinson, dec'd of, in and to a
certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the
County of Madison on the waters of Taylors Fork of Silver Creek,
containing about ____ acres, it being the same tract of land
whereon George Tomblinson, the husband of the said Elizabeth
Tomblinson, dec'd now lives and of which he holds a life estate.
To have and to hold the before described interest, right and title
of in and to the before mentioned tract of land unto him the said
John Cornelison and his heirs and assigns forever. In testimony
X537: 25 Feb 1839: Indenture between Mourning Tomblin, George Tucker and
Eliza, his wife, Lucy Jane Tomlin, Paulina Tomlin, Jeremiah
Tomlin, Nancy Tomlin, Margaret Tomlin, George Tomlin and Sally Ann
Tomlin, heirs of Ambrose D Tomlin of the one part and George
Ballard of the other part, witnesseth that whereas the Madison
Civil Court on the petition aforesaid of the heirs of Ambrose D
Tomlin dec'd decree and order the tract of land hereinafter desc-
ribed to be sold ...to the said Ballard...the following tract of
land being the same deeded to son Ambrose D Tomlin on the 20th day
of Aug 1824 by James Henderson and bounded as follows towit by
Kennedy assignee of John Tate on the west of Jacobs land on the
north by Jno Price assnee of Alfred Wms on the east and by Wm
Walker under E Brooks on the south lying on the walnut meadow fork
of Paint Lick Creek.
Signed by Mourning, Lucy Jane, Paulina, Jeremiah, Nancy,
Margaret, George, Sally Anne (Franklin) Tomlin and George
and Eliza Tucker. Deed of conveyance.
