Email from Carrol Tallman Jones, Jan 2004 - Obit John Miller:
1915 OBITUARY: Hardman Pioneer Dies. John Miller, a pioneer of the Hardman section, died at the hospital in Heppner last night. Mr. Miller had been very sick for the past four months, suffering from complication of ailments of stomach and bowels. It was at last decided that he could be relieved only by an operation, and he was brought to Heppner for this purpose, when it was found that it was too late for this step to beof any benefit to him. Mr. Miller was 76 years of age, and he leaves four grown sons who reside near Hardman. Besides these sons, who are William, Dvaid [sic], Francis and James Miller, he leaves a marrieddaughter, Mrs. John Eads, residing in Malheur county. He was a pioneer of Hardman country, having settled there more than thirty years ago, was a good neighbor and a well respected citizen. Funeral services will be held at Hardman tomorrow, and interment will be in Hardman cemetary. ----------------[digital copy of original news clipping in possession of cltj.] NOTE: Daughter "Mrs. John Eads" is Nancy Jane Miller (aka "Tennie" or "Tinnie") m.
